CLASS DESCRIPTION
Kindergarten

This class is designed for children ages 5. Boys and girls are taught gymnastic skills that increase their coordination, strength, flexibility, and prepares them for the progressive levels.

Recreational Boys and Girls 6 and up

Boys and Girls Classes: These are 1 hour classes. The students are placed in a class of students in their own age and gender grouping, currently 6-8 and 9 and up. Students are given instruction on all pieces of gymnastics apparatus designed for their grouping. Students are taught basic to intermediate gymnastic skills, flexibility and strength. The goal is to challenge each student to excel at their own level of development and encourage a fun and healthy lifestyle through gymnastics. Students who feel that gymnastics is "their sport" and would like to excel further, may want to consider signing up for two classes a week.

Performance Cheer Classes

These classes along with tumbling are highly recommended for those interested in school or Desert Thunder All Star cheerleading.

These classes lasts 1 hour and are geared to develop the students knowledge, and skills in a variety of stunts, tosses and pyramids for USASF levels 1 and 2. They learn to base, fly or preferably both in a safe and correctly executed manner. They will also focus on correct cheer motions, jump techniques and cheer vocabulary. During this time they will be taught a routine which they will perform at local events, such as the Sierra Vista Parade, 4th of July and other showcase events.  They will need to purchase an exhibition uniform.  This is a foundational class and the student must successful meet all requirements to move to the next level of instruction. Instruction in this class will follow the USASF directives.

Tumbling

Several tumbling classes are offered. The beginning through intermediate classes are divided by age. These gymnasts are taught beginning skills up through round-off back handsprings, front handsprings and drills for saltos. The advanced tumbling class will take the tumbler to the next level of Tumbling. Sometimes Adult classes are also offered.
